How we worked it out
Updated as you change the numbers.
- Wall width = 2 × (12 + 10) = 44 ft.
- Strips = 528 in ÷ 20.5 in roll width = 25.76, rounded up to 26.
- Each strip = wall height 96 in + repeat 0 in = 96 in. A 396 in roll gives 4 whole strips.
- Rolls = 26 strips ÷ 4 per roll, rounded up = 7.
Method and assumptions
Each strip runs the full height of the wall, plus one pattern repeat so the pattern can be matched to the strip next to it. The calculator counts how many strip widths fit around the room and how many whole strips you can cut from one roll. Offcuts shorter than a full strip are usually only good for above doors and below windows, so they are not counted.
Tips
- Buy all rolls with the same batch (lot) number; shades vary between print runs.
- An extra roll is cheap insurance against a mistake or a future repair.
Questions
How many rolls of wallpaper for a 12 × 10 room?
With 8 ft walls and 20.5 in × 33 ft rolls with no repeat, the room needs 26 strips. Each roll gives 4 strips of 8 ft, so buy 7 rolls.
