How we worked it out

Updated as you change the numbers.

  1. MAP = (120 + 2 × 80) ÷ 3.

Method and assumptions

MAP ≈ diastolic + one third of the pulse pressure, the same as (systolic + 2 × diastolic) ÷ 3. Clinicians generally aim to keep it above about 65 mmHg in hospital care. It is a reading to discuss with a clinician, not a diagnosis.

Questions

What is the MAP for 120/80?

93.3 mmHg, with a pulse pressure of 40.
