How we worked it out
Updated as you change the numbers.
- Needed = (target − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight.
Method and assumptions
A weighted grade multiplies each score by its weight, adds them and divides by the total weight graded so far. The final-exam formula solves for the final score that brings the overall grade to the target, assuming the current grade covers everything else.
Questions
I have 84% and the final is 30%. What do I need for a 90%?
104% on the final, so a 90 isn’t reachable without extra credit; 88% needs about 97.3%.
