How we worked it out
Updated as you change the numbers.
- The ECB quotes every currency against the euro, so USD → EUR = (EUR per EUR) ÷ (USD per EUR).
Method and assumptions
The European Central Bank publishes reference rates for about 30 currencies each working day around 16:00 Central European Time. Rates between two non-euro currencies are crossed through the euro. The site refreshes them at every build and refuses to build if they are more than 10 days old.
Questions
Why is my bank’s rate different?
Banks and card networks add a margin to the market rate, and rates move during the day; the ECB rate is a once-a-day reference.
